Martha Lou "Marty" Armstrong, 81, of Sycamore, Illinois, died Friday, April 11, 2008, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb. She was born November 16, 1926, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Clifford Arthur Drach and Martha Emma (Graham) Drach. She was a graduate of Holmes High School in Covington, Kentucky. She married Lavern C. Armstrong on August 24, 1946, in Cincinnati. She was a saleslady for Sosin’s, Henderson’s Department Store, and later for Leath Furniture.
She is survived by two sons, LaVern A. (Julie) Armstrong of Cincinnati, Ohio, Richard (Debbie) Armstrong of Cortland; three grandsons, Justin and Nathan Armstrong of Cincinnati and Derek Armstrong of Cortland; a brother, John (Jean) Drach of Cincinnati; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She was a member of Sycamore United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Dustin Chapter 365 and served as a Past Worthy Matron.
A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 24th at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home with The Reverend Nancy Weingartner officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday prior to the service. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore.
