Bernice Helen Bey, 86, of Sycamore, Illinois, formerly of Marshfield, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at the DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in DeKalb, Illinois. She was born August 7, 1921, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, the daughter of Walter and Linda (Schalock) Podratz. On December 20, 1941, she married Rueben Bey in Marshfield. Bernice co-owned Nig and Bernice’s Red Arrow Bar in Marshfield. She was a long-time member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, the State Tavern League and the Wood County Elks Auxiliary Tavern League.

She is survived by two children, Dianne (Daniel) Wunsch of Sycamore, Illinois, Thomas (Patricia) Bey of Kenosha, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Adam (Jenny) Wunsch, Alexandra (Rudy) Galindo, Gene Bey, Michael Bey, and Loren Bey; one great-grandchild, Miles Galindo; two sisters, Marian Vaughan and Doris Scherr of Marshfield, Wisconsin; and a brother, Norman Podratz of St. Paul, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents and her huband.

A mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2008, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield, Wisconsin. A visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the church prior to the mass. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield.
