Dieter William Blobaum, 71, of Sycamore, Illinois, and formerly of Libertyville, died Thursday, January 31, 2008, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb. Born July 15, 1936, in Cologne, Germany, he was the son of Ferdinand and Sophie (Schildhauer) Blobaum. He married Eileen Honeman on November 7, 1964, in Round Lake. He was a retired plumber.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen Blobaum of Sycamore; two daughters, Aileen (Bradford) Westover of Charlotte, North Carolina, Ginger Blobaum of Sycamore; a brother, Fred (Marianne) Blobaum of Germany; five grandchildren, Richie Blobaum, Alex, Regan, Taylor, and Mackenzie Westover. He was preceded in death by his parents; and several aunts and uncles.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961. He was a member of American Legion Post # 329 in Libertyville. He also was a member and officer of Plumbers Union #93 for fifty years. He was a member of American Society of Sanitary Engineers.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 4, 2008, at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL 60178. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Round Lake.
