Lizzie Mae Carey, 96, of Sycamore, Illinois, and formerly of Kingston, died Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb. She was born April 8, 1911, in Willisburg, Kentucky, the daughter of Thomas and Lucinda (Coulter) Young. She married Marsdon Carey on July 21, 1927, in Geneva. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.

She is survived by four sons, Donald Carey of Kingston, Rodman (Maxine) Carey of Aurora, Vernon (Roxy) Carey of Kingston, Richard (Patricia) Carey of Mountain Home, Arkansas; a daughter-in-law, Kaye Carey of Lake View, Arkansas; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1995; a son, James Carey; a daughter-in-law, Pauline Carey; two sisters; and two brothers.

She was a member of Mayfield Congregational Church and was an active member of Women’s Fellowship of the Church.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 9th at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home with The Reverend Mary Gay McKinney officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb. A memorial fund is established for Mayfield Community Church in care of Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL 60178.
