Thomas Joseph Dugan, 94, of Sycamore, Illinois died Sunday, February 24, 2008 at his home. He was born February 19, 1914 in Malta the son of Bernard and Mary Ann (Murphy) Dugan. He married Mary Alice Barrett on November 28, 1946 in Nashville, Tennessee. Tom was a supervisor at Joseph Brody and Brothers in DeKalb and a member of The Church of Saint Mary in Sycamore. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army as an infantry officer in the European Theater and was a recipient of the Purple Heart award.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Dugan of Sycamore; four daughters, Ann (Richard) Duesterberg of Mountain View, California, Alice (Jerry) Goble of Golden, Colorado, Mary "Kay Kay" (Barry) Kerbel of Sycamore, Nancy Dugan of Altoona, Iowa; four sons, Thomas (Carol) Dugan of Portage, Wisconsin, George (Susan) Dugan of Kenosha, Wisconsin, John (Diana) Dugan of Tucson, Arizona, James (Liesa) Dugan of Dunlap, Illinois; one sister, Frances (George) Roberts of Joliet; twenty-two grandchildren, Sky (Jessie) Goble, Ryan (Darcy) Goble, Annie (Shane) Marquardt, Keith Goble, Alex (Jamie) Goble, Molly Goble, Ted Goble, David Duesterberg, Emma (Jacob) Harris, Peter (Jocelyn) Kerbel, Eileen Kerbel, Thomas Kerbel, Mary Helen Widman, George Widman, Laura Widman, Michael, Sarah, Mark, Marissa, Brianna, Danielle, and Angela Dugan; nine great-grandchildren, Fiona, Nya, and Gabrielle Goble, Zoe Marquardt, Bella, Naveen, and Sicily Goble, Jordan Harris, Liam Kerbel; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Anglim, Rita Baumgartner; three brothers, Bernard, Martin, and Charles Dugan.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27th at The Church of Saint Mary, 244 Waterman St., Sycamore with The Reverend Frank John Timar, MSC celebrating. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday with a wake service at 7:30 p.m. at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home. A memorial fund is established for The Church of Saint Mary in Sycamore or for DeKalb County Hospice in care of Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL 60178.
