Karolyn Ruth French, 60, of DeKalb, Illinois, formerly of Kirkland, died Monday, April 7, 2008, at Pine Acres Care Center in DeKalb. Born July 2, 1947, in Rockford, she was the daughter of Harold and Dorothy (Ainsworth) Eckhardt. She married Jerry L. French on October 17, 1992, at Cortland United Methodist Church in Cortland. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant for Northwoods Care Centre in Belvidere and also worked as a private homecare nurse. Karolyn graduated from Hiawatha High School in Kirkland and was a member of Cortland United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry French of DeKalb; her mother, Dorothy Eckhardt of Belvidere; a sister-in-law, Joyce Eckhardt of DeKalb; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Harold L. "Vernie" Eckhardt.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 11th at Cortland United Methodist Church with Pastor Wendy A.Witt and Pastor Michael Morrell officiating. Interment will be in Mound Rest Cemetery in Cortland. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home.
