Lucille I. French, 85, of Cortland died Saturday, January 12, 2008 at DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center in DeKalb. She was born September 13, 1922 near Hinckley, Illinois, to Oscar and Orilla (Troeger) Voreis. She married Walter R. French on March 16, 1946 at the United Presbyterian Church parsonage near Somonauk. Lucille graduated from Hinckley High School with the class of 1940. In the 1940’s she worked for the DeKalb Ag, and after her children were grown, worked for the Cortland Post Office. She was a member of Sycamore United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie French of Cortland; her son, Randall (Patricia) French of Montgomery; and two grandchildren, Tim (Kathy) French of Chicago and Kelly (Phil) Marry of Forest Park.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter in 2006, one sister, Marilyn Edwards, and two brothers, Burdette and Dwayne Voreis.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16th at the Sycamore United Methodist Church, 160 Johnson Ave., Sycamore, with The Reverend Nancy Weingartner officiating. Interment will be in Oak Mound Cemetery near Somonauk. A visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home.
