Samuel Hadley, 83, of Sycamore, Illinois, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at his home. Born December 25, 1924, in Forest City, Pennsylvania, he was the son of John and Hazel (Hanson) Hadley. He married Ila May Gee on February 10, 1948, in Chicago. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He worked at Duplex for several years and later retired as a sports equipment manager from Northern Illinois University.
He is survived by two sons, Gary Hadley of Sycamore, Steve Hadley of Clinton, Missouri; a daughter, Judy (David) Schmitt of Clinton, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jessica, Jaclyn, and Mathew Schmitt; three brothers, Arthur Hadley of DeKalb, Kenneth (Floann) Hadley of Sycamore, Bob Hadley of Mount Carroll; three sisters, Nadine Steele of Steeleville, Shirley Hadley of St. Louis, Missouri; Jewel (Kurt) Lohr of Mount Carroll; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife in 1995; a son, Terry Hadley; a daughter, Delena Hadley; a brother, John Hadley; and a grandson, David Schmitt.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, 1245 Somonauk Street, with The Reverend Stephen Persson officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
