Kenneth Alvin Harrington, 82, of rural Kirkland, Illinois, and formerly of Carpentersville, died Sunday, February 24, 2008, at his home. Born July 4, 1925, in Chicago, he was the son of Richard Edward Harrington and Louise (Mailfald) Harrington. He married Viola Nabor on February 23, 1946, in Chicago. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in WWII. He was a retired mechanic for McGrath Buick in Elgin.

He is survived by his wife, Viola Harrington of Kirkland; a daughter, Gail (Greg) Pokora of Port Charlotte, Florida; a son, Glen (Angie) Harrington of Belvidere; two brothers, Richard Harrington of Petaluma, California, Donald Harrington of Fallon, Nevada; a sister, Betty (Herb) Weide of McHenry; a sister-in-law, Johanna Harrington of Georgia; eight grandchildren, Mark, Matt, Mike, and Joe Lisenby, Danielle and Michelle Harrington, Chris Cannon, Sara Fairchild; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Harrington; a sister, Delores Lathrop; a daughter, Judith Cannon; and an infant son, James Harrington.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Kirkland. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 29th in First Lutheran Church, 510 W. South Street, with The Reverend Carl L. M. Rasmussen officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Quiram-Kirkland Funeral Home. Interment will be in Maple Cemetery in Kirkland.
