Jane P. Harris, 89, of Sycamore, Illinois, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at the DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center in DeKalb. Born January 3, 1919, in Shabbona, she was the daughter of Oscar G. and Ethel (Coultas) Pike. She married Stanley C. Harris on June 2, 1935, in Sycamore. She formerly worked in the bookkeeping department at Montgomery Ward and later for Brody Coat Factory.
She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Allen of DeKalb, Sue (Dewey) Anderson of Sycamore, Ruth Claus of Quincy; a son, John (Kay) Harris of Rockford; eight grandchildren, Douglas Allen, Elizabeth (John) Terdina, Greg (Denise) Anderson, Dan (Kathy) Anderson, Patrick (Sheryl) Heagy, Bradley (Traci) Heagy, Diane Harris, Stanley (Julie) Harris; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1992, a brother, Edwin Pike; a sister Helen Jean Ickes; and a son-in-law, George Allen.
She was a member of The Federated Church in Sycamore and the Women of the Moose Lodge.
There is no visitation or immediate funeral service. A memorial and burial service will be held at a later time in Malta Cemetery. Cremation was by Quiram Cremation Services. A memorial fund is established for DeKalb County Hospice in care of Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL 60178.
