Karen Michelle Huftalin, 43, of rural Malta, Ill., died Thursday, November 1, 2007, at her home. Born May 22, 1964, in Milwaukee, Wis., she was the daughter of William Francis FitzPatrick and H. Jean (Masterton) FitzPatrick. She married Berton Charles Huftalin on February 29, 1992, in West Allis, Wis. She formerly worked as a personnel trainer for Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services in Watertown, Wis. and as a personnel trainer for Blue Cross and Blue Shield. She was also a salesperson for D.O.T.S. and for Tastefully Simple. She was a graduate of Watertown High School and of the University of Wisconsin Whitewater.
She is survived by her husband, Bert Huftalin of rural Malta; three sons, Frank, Noah, and Lance Huftalin all at home; her mother, Jean FitzPatrick of Sycamore; two brothers, Kevin (Joanne) FitzPatrick of Minocqua, Wis.; Keith (Andree) FitzPatrick of Norcross Ga.; two aunts, Phyllis (Charles) Martz of Bloomfield, Mich., Janice Ream of Detroit, Mich.; two uncles, David (Barbara) Masterton of Mt. Dora, Fla., Gary Stodelle of Rockford; several nieces and nephews; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Saundra Huftalin of rural Malta. She was preceded in death by her father; uncle Walter Ream, and aunt Lenore Masterton.
She was a member of Sycamore United Methodist Church, the B.S.F. bible study group and was a former leader, Tres Dias, a former member of Crystal Lake Rotary Club, and was active in Landmark Education. She was a former chairman of Market Day at Eswood School.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 6th at Sycamore United Methodist Church, 160 Johnson Avenue, with the Rev. William Landis and the Rev. Nancy Weingartner officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home. Interment will be in Greenview Cemetery in Esmond.
