Bernice "Bea" M. Johnson, 79, of Sycamore, Illinois, died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at

O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. Born September 14, 1928, in Noland, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Jacob S. and Ollie J. (Sneed) Moore. She grew up in DeKalb and attended schools and worked in the DeKalb area. She married Wesley L. Johnson on October 18, 1952, in Sycamore.

She is survived by her husband, Wesley Johnson of Sycamore; three sons, Roger and Gayle Braffett, Michael "Murph" and Sherry Johnson all of Sycamore, Kent Johnson and Lori Hill of Kansas City; two sisters, Lillian Beggs of Yorkville, Lee Vick of Chicago; five grandchildren and their spouses, Lynn and Steve Baer of Denver, Mark Braffett of DeKalb, Christian and Val Freeman of Lakewood, Layla and Ryan Bomstad of Naperville, Keegan Johnson of Sycamore; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Tom "Jake" Moore and Ken Moore.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore and a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Salem Lutheran Church, 1145 DeKalb Avenue, in Sycamore with The Reverend Janet H. Hunt officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, 1245 Somonauk Street. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore.
