Orisa I. Lanan, 100, of DeKalb died Monday, December 3, 2007 at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb. She was born September 30, 1907 in Mayfield Township, Illinois the daughter of Dell and Olive (Townsend) Lanan. Orisa graduated from Sycamore High School, Northwestern University and then got her master’s degree from the University of Iowa. She was a teacher in one-room schools, high school, and college. Orisa enjoyed traveling worldwide and was a member of the Federated Church in Sycamore.
She is survived by one brother, Howard (Evelyn) Lanan of DeKalb and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 6th at Mayfield Cemetery, Sycamore. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday at Bradt Chapel at OakCrest DeKalb Area Retirement Center in DeKalb, with The Reverend Rita Root officiating.
