Eleanor J. "Sue" Luchs, 97, of Sycamore, Illinois, and formerly of Glen Ellyn where she lived for forty-four years before moving to Sycamore in 1988, died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center in DeKalb. Born May 3, 1911, in Hibbing, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Alexander and Hannah Ekstrom. She married Arthur W. Luchs on August 19, 1931, in Chicago. Sue worked as a legal secretary in Chicago for many years retiring at age seventy-three. She was a member of Sycamore United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Robert W. (Patricia) Luchs of Chicago; one daughter, Janet Mundall who is married to Bill Itter, both of Sycamore; nine grandchildren, Hilde, Kurt, Murphy, Sarah, Cara, Helmut, and Rolf Luchs, Lisa and Lori Wallis; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1980; son, Dr. James R. Luchs; four brothers; and six sisters. She was the last of eleven children.

She loved music and was a member of the Sweet Adelines chorus. She also enjoyed square dancing. She was a champion bowler and bowled in many tournaments.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13th at Sycamore United Methodist Church, 160 Johnson Avenue, with The Reverend William Landis officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center or DeKalb County Hospice in care of Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL 60178.
