Joseph Patrick "Pat" Minnegan, 52, of Sycamore, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2007, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb. Born April 2, 1955, in Sycamore he was the son of Floyd Joseph "Joe" Minnegan and Margaret "Peggy" (Sparrow) Minnegan. He lived his entire life in Sycamore and touched the lives of all who knew him. His ever-present smile was contagious. Pat was a member of the Opportunity House community for many years. He graduated from Sycamore High School and recently retired from Seymour of Sycamore after many years of service. He enjoyed traveling with his friend and roommate Larry Broaddus, and dining out at all the local restaurants.
He is survived by his father and "second" mother, Joe and Lois Minnegan of Sycamore; his sisters, Mary "Judy" (John) Kubs of Genoa, Linda Henigan of Beavercreek, Ohio, Gloria Taylor of Rockford, Sandra (Robert) McMiller of Sycamore; his brother, Larry (Barbara) Patton of Sycamore; his sister-in-law, Betty Minnegan of Esmond; his nephews, Brian Schott, Timothy Carlton, Anthony Kubs, Jeremy Minnegan, Jason Minnegan, Scott Taylor, Jeffrey (Angela) Patton; his nieces, Debra (Matthew) Flavin, Janie (Brian) Foth, Sara Anderson, Jessica Anderson; his twelve great-nieces and great-nephews; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; the residents and staff at Opportunity House in Sycamore; and friend, Larry Broaddus of Sycamore. He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Minnegan; his brother, Michael Minnegan; his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandparents. He was a member of Sycamore Elks Lodge 1392.
A funeral mass will he held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 23rd at The Church of St. Mary, 244 Waterman Street, in Sycamore with The Reverend Frank John Timar, MSC celebrating. Interment will be in St. Catherine of Genoa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21st at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home.
