Dorothy L. Reinken, 99, of DeKalb and formerly of Genoa died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb. She was born May 5, 1908 in Genoa the daughter of Emanuel and Leah (Blesch) Adler. Her father was the President of the Genoa School Board and he ran the Sell-Schwaub Shoe Factory in Genoa where Dorothy worked in the bookkeeping department after her father’s death. She married Charles Reinken on November 20, 1937 in Wilmette, Illinois. Dorothy worked at GTE Automatic Electric and later at Ken’s Klothes Kloset in Genoa. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Ruth Circle, Heritage Society, and Genoa Senior Citizens. Dorothy was a 1925 graduate of Genoa High School and attended University of Illinois.
She is survived by three nieces, JoAnn Packard of Redding, California, Nancy Deacon of Naperville, Illinois, Sally Wagner of Portland, Oregon; several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Margaret Adler; brother Harry Adler.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Genoa Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for Faith United Methodist Church in care of Cooper-Quiram Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St., P.O. Box 251, Genoa, IL 60135. Information: 815-784-2518 or www.quiram.com
