Franklin A. Taylor, 82, of Kirkland, Illinois, died Sunday, November 11, 2007, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born January 30, 1925, in Esmond, he was the son of Forest A. Taylor and Josephine (Bue) Taylor. He married Helen Ruth Schriver on June 24, 1944, in Rockford. He was a valedictorian graduate of Fairdale High School and farmed in the Kirkland area all of his life. He also worked for the Franklin Township Road District and was a bus driver for Hiawatha Schools.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Ruth Taylor of Kirkland; three daughters, Connie (Keith) Nelson of Roscoe, Bonnie Lorensen of Kirkland, Mary (Roger) Powell of Fairdale; two sons, Ronald (Janet) Taylor of Kirkland, Bradley (Mary Ellen) Taylor of Kirkland; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Myrtle Bradle of Monroe Center; several nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Willard Taylor; a special nephew, Bill Taylor; sister-in-law, Audrey Taylor; and brother-in-law, Raymond Bradle.
He was a member of the DeKalb County Farm Bureau and a member of the education board. He was a member of ASCS. He was an airplane pilot and member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2007, at Quiram-Kirkland Funeral Home with The Reverend Michael Morrell officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund is established for DeKalb County Hospice in care of Quiram-Kirkland Funeral Home, 309 S. Fifth St., P.O.
