Donald F. Wiegartz, 76, of Kirkland, Illinois, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. Born January 28, 1932, in Kingston, he was the son of Fredrick and Elfrieda (Pohlman) Wiegartz. He married Laura Lawrence on Sept 8, 1951, in Elburn. He retired from Automatic Electric in Genoa after working there for over forty years.
He is survived by a son, Richard (Ginger) Wiegartz of Kirkland; a daughter Charlotte Swanson of Kirkland; a brother, Larnell "Dugan" Wiegartz of DeKalb; a sister, Lorraine Rich of Genoa; and nine grandchildren, Pamela (Tom) Leveroni, Cameron, Brandon, Bronson, and Kaiyla Wiegartz, Erin, Amanda, Jarod, and Matthew Swanson; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Laura in 1988; a son, Larry Wiegartz; a grandson, Eric Swanson; and a brother, Bill Wiegartz.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 9th at Quiram-Kirkland Funeral Home, 309 South Fifth Street. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Maple Cemetery in Kirkland.
