Henry "Hank" Gray Zittel, 71 of Chandler, Arizona, formerly of Sycamore and Rockford, Illinois, and St. Charles, Missouri, died Saturday, August 14, 2004 at his home. He was born April 29, 1933 in East St. Louis, Illinois the son of the late Henry D. and Eleanor (Gray) Zittel. He married Carol Johnson Bucey on October 30, 1970 in the Sycamore United Methodist Church. He was a district sales manager for Hiram Walker, Inc. retiring in 1988, he then worked part-time at Sears from 1989 to 1998.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Zittel of Chandler; two daughters, Anne (Jac) Whitmire of Chandler, Julie (Dave) Moss of Fairview Heights, Illinois; a step-daughter, Jill Bucey of Rockford; three sons, Henry Zittel of Collinsville, Christopher Zittel of St. Louis, Missouri, Daniel (Kelli) Zittel of Breese; a sister, Mary El (Jim) Roche of Fairview Heights; a brother, Charles (Bernadette) Zittel of Belleville; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a U. S. Army Korean War Veteran. He was a member of the Sunbird Lions Club in Chandler and a former Sycamore Lions Club member. He also was a former member of the Sycamore Moose Lodge and Knights of Columbus.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 23rd at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home with his cousin The Reverend Fr. James Margason officiating. A remembrance visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the memorial service. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore.
